Our orphaned hero, a tiny bird of orange plumage, learns how to fly from an eagle who adopted him, spurring the jealousy of the eagles biological sons. The father eagle gets captured by gypsies and becomes an unwilling participant of their circus. It is up to Birdy and his newly found friends (a pygmy anteater and a sloth) to try to rescue him before it is too late.
